Intent
At Our Lady's Catholic Primary School and Nursery, we have created a curriculum which is engaging, ambitious and exciting, led by an enquiry based approach and driven by our School Virtues. This approach to learning is to meet the needs of all our children and to ensure they develop their love of learning, gaining ample knowledge and skills to succeed in life after Primary School. We are very proud of what we stand for, offer and give our children every day. Our Curriculum is led by enquiry questions, which allow learning over lessons, blocked weeks and as long-term learners.
Our School Virtues are embedded throughout our curriculum design. The aspect of our children being ‘learned and wise’ is at the heart of our curriculum design and a particular focus for our planning and through the teaching sequence.
The Our Lady’s Curriculum was chosen and adapted to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to meet Key Stage requirements and allow for smooth transition to the next phase of education. The curriculum was redesigned to enable children to experience a more enquiry based approach. This allows children to develop key skills and seek vital knowledge through exploring big questions and concepts.
