Virtues

The Catholic Schools Pupil Profile is rooted in the Jesuit aim of education and provides a framework for developing intellectually competent, compassionate, and virtuous young people. The values and virtues within the Profile are deeply grounded in the Gospels of Jesus Christ and the spirituality of St Ignatius Loyola (1491–1556), founder of the Society of Jesus. His vision of education sought to guide young people towards both a closer relationship with God and true human fulfilment.

The Catholic Schools Pupil Profile consists of pairs of values and virtues which strongly support our children’s spiritual, moral, social, cultural, and vocational development. Each half-term, we focus on two virtues, which are woven thoughtfully through all aspects of school life and learning. These virtues enrich our curriculum by encouraging deeper reflection, meaningful discussion, and engagement with the wider world, including current affairs and global issues that affect us all. As a result, children become increasingly confident in expressing their ideas, opinions, and values across a range of subjects.

The virtues are celebrated and promoted consistently across the school. They are central to our planning for Collective Worship, which takes place weekly, and children are recognised and praised for living out the virtues in their daily actions. Through this shared focus, we help children to grow in character, faith, and understanding, preparing them to contribute positively to their communities and the wider world.

Compassionate and Loving

Towards others, near and far, especially the less fortunate; and loving by their just actions and forgiving words.

Eloquent and Truthful

Pupils are eloquent in what they say of themselves and of their faith.

Grateful and Generous

For their own gifts, for the gift of other people, and for the blessings of each day; and generous with their gifts, becoming men and women for others.

Attentive and Discerning

Pupils are aware of their experience and of their vocation. They learn to be discerning about the choices they make and the effects of those choices.

Faith-filled and Hopeful

Pupils have opportunities to develop their faith and hopes for the future.

Learned and Wise

Pupils learn to find God in all things, and are wise in the ways they use their learning for the common good.

Curious and Active

Our pupils are curious and active about the World.

Intentional and Prophetic

Our pupils are intentional in their lives and are guided by conscience. They are prophetic in the example they set to others.

School Virtues

We promote two virtues each half-term, and centre our collective worship and assemblies around these.
