Home Learning

Here is some of the work we have been doing whilst at home. We have created wonderful writing all about 'The Christmas Star' advert, worked hard on number, inverse calculations and perimeter. In the afternoons we have started learning about Space and World War II. Here are some pictures showing the Anderson Shelters we made at home, after planning them carefully. We have been creative in what materials we have used! We have also also been thinking of our new Virtues, 'Grateful and Generous' and of course, taken time out to relax, do some exercise, enjoy the snow and look after our families.

Year 5 have had a very exciting week. To help us with our writing in English, we have had a special visit from Gryff the dog and we got to enjoy a spectacular feast. We promise it has helped our writing!
Year 5 have been studying pencil drawings in Art, and have created pencil drawings of Medusa, surrounded by snakes, to link to their History Topic. Sadly, not all of the wonderful art work could be displayed on the small display board but all are in a book ready to be viewed by passers by.
Year 5 have spent the last couple of weeks researching and designing Ancient Greek Sandals, learning about the various parts of a sandal and creating our design criteria. Check back soon for the finished products!

Welcome to Year 5!

Well it has been a busy first few days in Year 5 as we adjust to life back at school! We have discussed all the exciting things we did whilst away and talked about some of the harder parts of lockdown too. It seems we are all excited to be back at school and ready to learn. We have written some fabulous stories and descriptions based on a picture called 'Strange Town' and started morning maths and English activities too. The children have created a wonderful display for the Year 5 prayer corner, Our Rainbow Hands of Hope, where they have thought about their own hopes and wishes as well as those around them and the world.
