Children with a Statement of Special Education Needs or an Educational, Health & Care Plan which names a particular school will be allocated places first, after which the remaining places are allocated according to an agreed set of criteria, in strict order of priority.
For children with a Statement of Special Education Needs or an Educational, Health & Care Plan whose parents wish them to transfer to a different school ('In-Year transfer') a review of the EHCP/Statement would need to be called. The documentation from this review is then sent to the SEN team. The SEN team will then consult with the parent and the preferred school in order to judge whether the school is able to meet the pupil's needs. Children with a Statement of SEN or an EHC Plan commonly require additional support at school. Schools will require support from the Local Authority’s SEND team to accommodate any additional needs that a child may have.
