Organisation of the School

At Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School, we are a one-form entry school with approximately 200 pupils from Nursery to Year 6. Our school is organised to ensure that every child is known, valued and supported throughout their time with us.

We pride ourselves on our strong sense of community, where positive relationships and high expectations enable all children to flourish.

Structure of Classes

Our school is organised to support children at each stage of their development:

  • Nursery (2+) and Reception (4+) – Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

  • Key Stage 1 – Years 1 and 2

  • Key Stage 2 – Years 3 to 6

Our Nursery provides a nurturing environment for children aged 2 and above, supporting their early development and preparing them for their transition into Reception. From Reception onwards, children continue their learning journey through each key stage, building strong foundations for future success.

Children are taught in single year group classes, allowing teachers to build strong relationships and provide high-quality teaching tailored to each stage of learning.

Leadership and Staffing

The school is led by a dedicated Senior Leadership Team, consisting of:

  • Headteacher

  • Deputy Headteacher

  • SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator)

They are supported by a committed team of:

  • Class teachers

  • Learning support assistants

Our staff work closely together to ensure that all pupils are supported, challenged and encouraged to achieve their very best.

In addition, our school office team provides essential administrative support and is often the first point of contact for families. Pastoral support is an important part of school life, and we work closely with pupils and families to ensure that every child feels safe, happy and ready to learn.

The School Day

Our school day is carefully structured to provide a calm and purposeful start to learning, with a balance of teaching, play and enrichment opportunities.

Further details about timings and routines can be found on our School Day page.

Learning and School Life

Learning at Our Lady’s is carefully organised to ensure that children experience a broad and balanced curriculum. Classrooms are well-resourced and provide engaging environments where children can develop independence, confidence and a love of learning.

We also provide a range of opportunities beyond the classroom, including educational visits, enrichment activities and wider experiences that support children’s personal development.

A Supportive Community

At the heart of our school organisation is a commitment to strong relationships between staff, pupils and families. We believe that children thrive best when home and school work closely together, and we value the partnership we have with our parents and carers.
