Help & Support for Families

We recognise that, at times, families may need some extra help, guidance, or support. Often this can come from friends, family, or the local community, but sometimes additional support is needed.

At our school, we are committed to working in partnership with families to ensure children feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. Early support can make a significant difference, and we are here to help.

Early Help – Our School Offer

It is important to us that any family experiencing challenges receives help as early as possible.

These challenges may relate to:

  • family relationships
  • behaviour at home or school
  • housing or financial concerns
  • emotional wellbeing and mental health
  • safety in the community
  • attendance
  • or any other issues affecting your child or family

We aim to build strong, trusting relationships with our families so that any concerns—big or small—can be shared and addressed early. This helps us to provide the right support and ensure all children feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.

Our Safeguarding and Support Team

If you have any concerns or would like support, you can speak to:

  • Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Aga Przybylska
  • Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs): Rachel Bryan & Olivia Major
  • Family Support Worker / Pastoral Lead: Fiona Moverley

Our team can listen, offer advice, and help access additional support where needed.

Emotional Wellbeing Support

We provide support in school for children’s emotional wellbeing and mental health.

This may include:

  • pastoral support
  • small group or 1:1 interventions
  • Emotional Literacy Support (ELSA)
  • referrals to external services such as WEST (Wellbeing and Emotional Support Teams) or MELO
  • access to specialist services such as Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

We may also offer workshops, assemblies, and support for parents to help children manage their wellbeing.

Behaviour Support

We promote a positive, consistent approach to behaviour across the school. We encourage children to:

  • be ready to learn
  • show respect
  • make positive choices
  • support and care for others

When a child is finding behaviour challenging, we work closely with families to understand the reasons behind this and provide support both in school and at home. Where appropriate, we may involve external professionals and agencies.

School Nurse

Families can access support from the school nursing service for concerns such as:

  • emotional wellbeing
  • anxiety
  • physical health
  • sleep or routines
  • general health advice

Referrals can be made by school or directly by parents/carers.

Attendance

Good attendance is essential for children’s learning and wellbeing.

  • Attendance is monitored closely
  • Support is offered where attendance becomes a concern
  • We work in partnership with families to improve attendance
  • The Local Authority may become involved where attendance falls below expected levels

If you are experiencing difficulties affecting attendance, please contact us—we are here to help.

PSHE and RSE

We deliver a structured curriculum that supports children to:

  • understand how to stay safe
  • develop resilience
  • build positive relationships
  • understand their mental and physical health

This helps children develop the knowledge and skills they need for life.
