Librarians

At Our Lady’s RC Primary School, our Librarians play an important role in promoting reading for pleasure, responsibility and leadership within our school community.

Librarians are pupils who demonstrate a love of reading, organisation and a commitment to helping others.

What Do Our Librarians Do?

Our Librarians are responsible for:

  • Supporting younger pupils in choosing books
  • Promoting reading for pleasure across the school
  • Helping to organise and care for the library space
  • Assisting with book displays and themed reading events
  • Encouraging respectful use of books and resources

They help ensure our library remains a welcoming and inspiring space for all.

Developing Leadership and Responsibility

Through this role, Librarians develop:

  • Confidence and communication skills
  • Responsibility and organisation
  • Pride in maintaining shared spaces
  • A passion for literature and learning

They act as reading role models, demonstrating curiosity, focus and enthusiasm.

Promoting a Love of Reading

Reading is central to academic success and personal development. Our Librarians help to:

  • Celebrate World Book Day and other reading events
  • Foster discussion and sharing of books

Their work contributes to a strong reading culture across the school.

Our Commitment

We are proud of our Librarians and the leadership they show in promoting literacy and learning. Through this role, pupils learn that responsibility, service and enthusiasm can positively influence others.
