Vision
At Our Lady’s Primary School, our vision is fully aligned with the Department for Education ambition that all pupils have access to high-quality physical education, opportunities to be physically active every day, and the skills and motivation to lead healthy, active lives.
We are committed to ensuring that every child leaves Our Lady’s physically literate, confident, and competent in a broad range of physical activities. Pupils will develop the knowledge, skills and positive attitudes required to sustain participation in physical activity and sport throughout their lives.
Intent
Through the strategic use of PE and Sport Premium funding, we aim to:
- Deliver a high-quality, progressive PE curriculum that develops fundamental movement skills, physical competence and tactical understanding.
- Increase the amount of time pupils are physically active during the school day, working towards the Chief Medical Officer’s recommendation of at least 60 active minutes daily.
- Raise the profile of PE and sport as drivers of whole-school improvement, supporting behaviour, wellbeing, attendance and personal development.
- Ensure inclusive provision so that all pupils — including disadvantaged pupils and those with additional needs — can access and succeed in physical activity and sport.
- Develop staff subject knowledge, pedagogical confidence and assessment capability in PE.
- Broaden the range of sports and physical activities available to pupils.
- Increase participation in competitive sport, both intra-school and inter-school.

We achieve this through:
1. High-Quality Curriculum Provision
- Structured, progressive long-term planning aligned with National Curriculum expectations.

- The PE Leader coordinates and monitors provision to maintain standards.
- Trained lunchtime supervisors facilitate structured physical activity daily.
- Investment in durable, high-quality equipment ensures long-term curriculum delivery.
- Resources and planning systems remain in place to support future cohorts.
