Equality Information & Objectives

At Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School, we are committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of school life. Our Catholic values underpin our approach, ensuring that every child is recognised as unique, valued and supported to achieve their full potential within a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.

We are a diverse and inclusive school community. Over half of our pupils speak English as an additional language, and our school reflects a wide range of cultural, linguistic and social backgrounds. We also support a significant number of pupils with SEND and those eligible for pupil premium.
We recognise that every child is an individual and are committed to meeting their needs through a personalised and supportive approach, working closely with families and external agencies.

We meet our duties under the Equality Act 2010 by:

  • Eliminating discrimination, harassment and victimisation
  • Advancing equality of opportunity for all
  • Fostering good relations between all members of our school community

Our approach is rooted in strong relationships, high expectations and a commitment to removing barriers to learning and participation. Through our relational behaviour approach, adaptive teaching and inclusive practice, we ensure that all pupils are supported to achieve well.

We regularly review our provision, outcomes and practices to ensure that all pupils, particularly those who are disadvantaged or have SEND, are supported effectively and fully included in school life.

Our current equality objectives (2025–2029) focus on:

  • Improving attendance for vulnerable groups
  • Raising attainment and progress for disadvantaged pupils
  • Ensuring full accessibility and inclusion across the school
  • Embedding our relational behaviour approach to support wellbeing and positive relationships
