We offer a daily hot school meal provided by Miquill, prepared off-site in line with National School Food Standards.

  • Meals cost £2.85 per day (£14.25 per week)

  • Children receive a main meal and a choice of dessert, fruit or yoghurt

  • Menus run on a three-week cycle

Meals must be ordered in advance via ParentPay by midnight on Thursday for the following week.

Free School Meals

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free daily meal through the Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) scheme.

Families may also be eligible for Free School Meals, which provide additional support and funding for your child.

Application forms are available from the school office or via MyHerefordshire.

Packed Lunches

Children may bring a packed lunch from home. We encourage lunches that are:

  • healthy and balanced

  • clearly labelled

To support the safety and wellbeing of all pupils:

  • nuts and nut products are not permitted

  • sweets and sugary snacks should be kept to a minimum

  • children should bring water only (no fizzy drinks or juices)

Healthy Eating

We actively promote healthy lifestyles across the school.

  • All children in Reception and Key Stage 1 receive a free piece of fruit daily through the Fruit for Schools scheme

  • Children should bring a clearly labelled water bottle to school each day – water only (no fizzy drinks or juices)

  • Water bottles are available from the school office

Benefits of School Meals

A healthy school meal supports much more than physical health:

Supporting Learning

Children are more likely to concentrate and stay focused when they have eaten a nutritious meal.

Encouraging Healthy Habits

School meals help children develop a balanced diet and understand the importance of nutrition.

Trying New Foods

Eating alongside peers encourages children to try new foods and broaden their tastes.

Social Development

Mealtimes provide valuable opportunities to develop:

  • table manners

  • conversation skills

  • confidence in social situations

Supporting Long-Term Health

Balanced meals contribute to healthy growth and help establish positive habits for life.

Payments

Our school operates a cashless system, and all meal payments must be made through ParentPay.
