Vision

All pupils leaving Our Lady’s R.C. Primary School will be physically literate and will have the knowledge, skills, and motivation needed to lead a healthy lifestyle and to participate in physical activity and sport throughout their lives.

Objectives
  • To achieve sustained improvement in the quality of Physical Education and sport at Our Lady’s R.C. Primary School.

  • To ensure pupils are engaged in regular physical activity, supporting the development of healthy, active lifestyles.

  • To raise the profile of PE and sport across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement.

  • To increase staff confidence, knowledge, and skills in the teaching of PE and sport.

  • To provide pupils with a broader range of sports and physical activities.

  • To increase participation in competitive sport, both within and beyond school.

Sustainability
  • Teachers who have received training in previous academic years continue to plan and deliver high-quality PE lessons. Good practice is shared across the school and is co-ordinated and monitored by the PE Leader.

  • Lunchtime supervisors who have been trained to organise and supervise physical activities use their skills to ensure that children have regular access to sport and active play during lunchtimes.

  • Investment in PE resources continues year on year, enabling staff to deliver the PE curriculum effectively and to offer a wider range of sporting activities during curriculum time and lunchtimes.

  • Children are enthusiastic about physical activity and sport, helping to create a positive and inclusive sporting culture across the school. Pupils also develop a strong understanding of health, fitness, and well-being.

  • Investment in high-quality PE equipment ensures that resources are durable, sustainable, and available for long-term use, providing lasting opportunities for pupils to participate in a range of sports.
